Destination: Located in an exclusive, stunning, secret, wild & natural location at the RSPB Haweswater nature reserve our luxurious 'Pop up' hotel will provide you with all aspects of hospitality during your stay. The Lake District has recently achieved World Heritage status and offers some of the most stunning (if not the best) scenery in England. Please note that for obvious reasons we never release details of our specific destinations online. Further details will be provided once you have paid the balance of your trip.
Getting to and from the 'Pop up Hotel': All transfers during your trip are provided by Wilderness Escapes and we urge all guests to travel to Penrith station or Carlisle airport (private charters only) where we will collect and return you for onward travel. Our 'Pop up Hotel' is easily accessible and is located within 100m of a quiet country lane at your destination. The terrain around the 'Pop up Hotel' is easy to navigate on foot and is on largely flat and even ground. There is no access for guest's cars due to the nature of access routes and environmental impact. If you choose to drive yourself, we will provide directions and arrange for your car to be parked nearby at a safe and secure location for the duration of your trip.
Wildlife & The Landscape at RSPB Haweswater: Being a designated wildlife reserve the variety of local wildlife at RSPB Haweswater is quite simply amazing and there are many opportunities to observe a wide range of birds, animals, plants and wild flowers as well as the stunning natural landscape. Local wildlife - amongst many varieties - includes: Owls, Red Squirrel, Badger, Red Deer, Peregrine Falcon, Wheatear, Redstart, Otters, Buzzards and a SSSI flower meadow. Our Pop up Hotel is located in an ideal location to see many of these without leaving the site and it is not uncommon for us to have regular Red Squirrel sightings and visits from Badgers at night actually en-camp!
If you are the type to want to get up early to see wildlife then all you need do is set your alarm, get up and literally step outside......and you are already there.....
Throughout the trip Wilderness Escapes and RSPB staff will provide guided tours of the reserve and tips and advice on where to observe wildlife that you can go and visit for yourself - just a walk away from your destination. The majority of the time will be spent on the RSPB Haweswater reserve.
Wildlife & Landscape Photography: Our 'Pop up Hotel' is highly unique in that it creates opportunities for you to capture shots you wouldn't ordinarily be able to. This trip is ideal for practising and improving your wildlife and landscape photography skills. There is no light pollution at the RSPB Haweswater reserve and without having to leave the hospitality of your base you can also easily prepare for night time, sunrise and sunset photography.
